All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. he is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort others. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
We need each other! Even when we're weak and sick from cancer, the Body of Christ needs us. When we allow a friend to take care of us by bringing a meal for our family or sitting with us during a treatment, we provide them with the joy of giving. Being confined to bed gives is a great opportunity to pray for others. And as we realize the sustaining power of the prayers of others for us, we'll be more able to comfort others. Praise God for His provision of mercy and comfort through the people He puts in our life.

Perseverance
Matthew 24:13
But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Perseverance, persistence, courage- these are anchors that we should cling to during the storms of life. Even in the worst storms God has supplied a lifebelt:Faith. The tenacity of your spirit enables you to hold on to that lifebelt.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveabke, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58 KJV
If you are looking for something to help in the circumstances that are threatening to overwhelm you, then my advice is the same as I would give a drowning person: don't struggle or squirm or fight against the waves in your own strength. Lay your life quietly in God's omnipotent, saving hands. Then you will find peace in the storm and peace creates the power that gives you courage and the ability to persevere.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9 KJV
Perseverance is strong but calm. It is courage without bitterness, persistence without self-pity. As we gradually learn to accept our circumstances rather than rebel against them, we discover a new strength within ourselves.
Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Hebrews 12:1 NIV

In the time of trouble
Psalm 141 amplified version
Lord, I call upon You; hasten to me. Give ear to my voice when I cry to You. Let my prayers be set forth as incense before You, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Set a guard, O Lord, before my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips. Incline my heart not to submit or consent to any evil thing or to be occupied in deeds of wickedness with men who work iniquity; and let me not eat of their dainties. Let the righteous man smite and correct me- it is a kindness. Oil so choice let not my head refuse or discourage; for even in their evils or calamities shall my prayer continue. When their rulers are overthrown in stony places, their followers shall hear my words, that they are sweet (pleasant, mild and just). The unburied bones ( slaughtered rulers) shall lie scattered at the mouth of Seoul, (as unregarded) as the lumps of soil behind the plowman when he breaks open the ground. But my eyes are toward You, O God the Lord; in You do I trust and take refuse; pour not out my life nor leave it destitute and bare. Keep me from the trap which they have laid for me, and the snares of evildoers. Let the wicked fall together into their own nets, while I pass over them and escape.
Now, when you find herself in the midst of trouble, do not act like the world. Be ye angry and sin not!

Ephesians 4:21-24 the Apostle Paul tells us:
Assuming that you have really heard Him and been taught by Him, as all truth is in Jesus (embodied and personified in Him), Strip yourselves of your former nature (put off and discard your old unrenewed self) which charaterized you previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion. And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind (having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude). And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God's image, in true righteousness and holiness.
I pray that God continues to keep my tongue and keeps me!

A Commitment to Change
"I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me" Isaiah 6:8
Isaiah's call to service is one of the most unusual recorded in the Bible. What he experienced is referred to as a theophany. It came in the form of a vision and was so overwhelming in its presentation of God’s holiness that Isaiah was left feeling devastated by his sinfulness.
When Isaiah saw God, he immediately looked at himself and realized that he did not belong in the presence of God. His cry of woe is a lamentation of recognition meant to act like an interjection. We will at times suddenly cry out, “Hey! Wait! Hold on a minute!” This is similar to Isaiah’s sudden response to the glory of God- only his cry was caused by a realization of how far short he fell of what he saw in God’s glory. In saying he was undone, he meant that he was ruined-rendered dumb or silent by his failure.
I’m sure that if we were honest with ourselves we would feel as Isaiah-filthy compared to the awesome holiness of God. He expressed this by saying his lips were unclean, as were the lips of all the people among whom he lived. Job felt the same way and put it this way: “I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eyes seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.” Job 42:5-6
Peter recognized the divine nature of Jesus when an all-night fishing trip changed into tremendous success at His command. Peter fell down before Jesus and said, “Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord” Luke 5:8
In Revelation 1 John described himself as seeing the glorified Christ, after which he said, “And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead” vs. 17.
When you read the book of Isaiah and get the revelation as Isaiah did that what he was witnessing was the King of Kings and the Lord of hosts you understand why Isaiah felt unclean and unworthy.
When any person, especially a believer, comes face-to-face with the ugliness of his sinfulness, there is emotional pain in facing the truth. Genuine repentance is often accompanied by the flowing of tears, for we face the stark realization of our failure before God.
It has already been said that we need to spend more time studying God to help us develop a realistic view of self. We as believers are on a journey of spiritual growth-or at least we should be. The growth comes from a deeper understanding of God, His will and His ways. We see God as we read the Bible and learn who He is. We see His will as we study more in depth and learn the principles that lie beneath the surface of the text. We see His ways in deeper study yet, getting a more complete understanding from the whole word.
POINTS:
* If God is the focus of heaven, he should certainly be the center of our lives.
* We glorify God when we declare His holiness by word and action
* We see ourselves most clearly when we grasp something of the Lord’s holiness
* Only those who acknowledge Christ’s sacrifice can receive God’s forgiveness
* One who knows God’s forgiveness will be willing to go wherever He sends
God asks, "Who will go for us?" What will you say?
